Overview
Dakshinkali is one of the famous touristic spots under the cultural tour in Nepal. The Kali goddess lives in south of Kathmandu city. South is ‘Dakshin’ in Nepali language. As resided in Dakshin direction of the city, Kali is called as Dakshinkali.
Dakshinkali is the violence incarnation of goddess ‘Parbati’, the wife of Lord Shiva. She accepts sacrificed animals. Hundreds of animals like chicken, goat, duck and water buffalo get sacrificed every Saturday and Tuesday out in the open space of her temple in Dakshinkali.
It is a picnic spot too. Each Saturday hundreds of people come here for picnic. It is 19 km far from the kathmandu city. To explore the village life around the kathmandu valley, it is a wonderful tour.
