Fishing in Nepal is the special interest tour and adventure sport. Nepal is the best place for fishing in the world. In Nepal some people are fisher by profession with generation to generation. They caught the fish and sell them to the market. They live with a village just bank of the river where they can catch the fish easily. But they do not do fishing as a special interest game or sport. People who are the profession by fishing they are called “Majhi” in Nepal.
They do fishing throughout the year. They use a net hanging some weighty iron pieces at the rim of the net which brings the net just bottom of the river or pond. As they pull out the net from the water it brings the fishes holding together. Some fisher they use a hook with some food is attached with it and they do fishing. Now day’s professional “Majhi” people are going to leave their profession. That profession is not enough for their lodging and fooding.
Now days Nepal has developed the fishing as the special interest sports or tour. Nepal is the world’s second largest country in rivers. Nepal has many Ponds, Lakes, and rivers. In Nepal there are more than 118 verities of fresh water fish and 1to 50 kilograms in weight. For the easy fishing tour people can do fishing in phewa lake and begnash lake in Pokhara.
Nepal offers 1 to 15 days fishing tour. The best season for the fishing is October to second week of the December and March to May. But in case of lakes and ponds one can do throughout the year.
