Overview

Manaslu trekking leads along the Budhi Gandaki River, the popular holy river which originates from the snowcapped Mountains. ‘Budhi’ means an old woman. Therefore, this river can be said as Old Gandaki River. Manaslu (8163m) trekking was opened for tourists only in 1992. It is still not the regular trekking trail as it was used only for the expedition. Not being connected to the big cities, Manaslu area still offers the natural vegetation with beautiful flora and fauna.

Manaslu trekking starts from Gorkha, the home town of former Royal family of Nepal. Before starting trekking we do sightseeing in the old Royal Palace in Gorkha, built in the fortress style with goddess Kali temple. It is a wilderness trekking that passes through the typical Nepali villages and rural market centre like Arughat Bajar which is the old busyness centre of Gorkha district. The trail leads to the height of Larkya pass (5213m). Manaslu trekking ends at Beshisahar which is the starting point of the Annapurna Circuit.

The spectacular mountain views and bio-cultural diversity are the delightful adventures of Manaslu trek. At the low land there is the inhabitation of Gurung ethnic groups, mainly associated with agricultural work. Upon the arrival to the Himalayan range, tourists get to meet with the local ethic people, strongly influenced by the Tibetan culture and tradition.

  • Briefing on Manaslu trekking and trekking preparation. You can rest or go sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley. There are so many beautiful places in Kathmandu for sightseeing. Kathmandu is full of temples, stupas, and old royal palaces.

  • The first five-hour road is nice, and the fourth is gravel road along Budhi Gandaki. You will explore many typical Nepali villages, forests, terraces, water falls, rivers, and typical local villages and farmers working on their fields.

  • After breakfast, start your trekking and arrive in Khorlabesi soon, where you will get a natural hot spring. Tourists explore hot water springs. Then you will walk uphill through a suspension bridge to cross the Budhigandaki River. The trail passes through dense forests, arrives at the beautiful village of Jagat, and stays overnight.

  • After breakfast, we start our trek. On the way, we will meet Salleri Village. After Salleri village, the trail descends to Sirdibas. Then, from Sirdibas, we cross the suspension bridge again and arrive in Philim village. After crossing the hill, we arrive at Akle Bhatti. Akle Bhatti is alone tea house on the way. Most of the time, they sell home-made alcohol and some snacks. After Aklebhatti, the trail passes through the gorge. The trail starts steep, climbing through bamboo forests till Deng.

  • About 4 hours of trekking to Ghap 2620 meters. Today we will walk slowly, making sightseeing stops along the way, and the road passes through small ups and downs. On the way, we will see beautiful Buddhist paintings and the Mani wall.

  • Though the whole trek is very beautiful and important, Samagaun is the most important part of this trek. Samagaun is the home of Tibetan people who arrived here 500 years ago. At the same time, they brought Tibetan culture and traditions together. From here, you can see brilliant views of Manaslu Himal too. Today, the trail ascends steeply through rhododendron flowers and bamboo forests until Namrung. During March and April, the whole mountain looks pink due to the blooming of rhododendron flowers.

  • Rest in Samagaun

From Kermokharka, the trail descends, and we have to use a wooden bridge to cross the river and arrive at Samdo Village, where you will stay overnight.

  • Today, we walk slowly. It is not a very long walk. But we have to go more up than downhill to reach a height of 4390 meters. Today you will walk on Moriens and view the beautiful peaks like Larke Peak and Naike Peak. On the way, you will explore a beautiful stone hut and mani wall.

  • Today you will start your trek early in the morning to reach the top of the Larkya-La pass at 5135 meters. It is really strenuous and long climbing. As you are continuing the ups, you will start to see stunning views of Mt.Manaslu, Himalchuli, Bouddha Himal, Peak 29, and Larkya Peak. From the top of the Larkya-La pass, the trail descends all the way down to Bimtang. Where do we plan to stay overnight?

  • Today is a long walk, but it is pleasant. The trail descends gradually downhill and walks through forests of rhododendron, pine, and oak trees. As you arrive in Dharapani, you will experience trekking in the Annapurna region trekking.Dharapani is the bigger village on the trekking trail, and it is more beautiful as well as combining the Annapurna trek.
