Overview

Compared to other trekking routes, the Lower Dolpo trek is one of Nepal’s lesser-known trip routes. However, this hike offers some extremely intense adventure and thrills from traversing the untraveled path. In 1982, tourists were allowed to trek the Lower Dolpo. Dolpo is located in Karnali Pradesh, in the western Nepalese hills. There are seventy-seven districts in Nepal, including this one. With a total size of 7889 km2, it is the largest district in the nation.

Shey Phoksundo National Park is located in this district, which is the most remote area. Shey Monastery and the nearby Phoksundo Lake inspired the park’s name. Most of the area of the Dolpo district is covered by this National park. Phoksundo lake is the main attraction of this park which is the deepest lake of Nepal. It is situated at an altitude of 3612 m above sea level.
