Nepal Information
Nepal is a landlocked mountainous country between China to the north and India to the south, east, and west. The Constitution of Nepal defines the country as an independent, indivisible, covering, secular, inclusive, democratic, socialism-oriented, federal democratic republican state. Known for offering some of the best trekking in Nepal, the country's diverse landscapes and towering peaks attract adventurers from around the world.
Nepal is also home to hundreds of mountains, including Mt. Everest. Of the ten above 8000m mountains in the world, eight are in Nepal as mentioned below. Gandaki Province: Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m) in Kaski district, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m) in Myagdi district, and Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m) in Gorkha district. Koshi Province: Mt. Sagarmatha/Mt. Everest (8,848.86m), Mt. Lho Tse (8,516m), and Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) in Solukhumbu district, Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m) in Taplejung district, and Mt. Makalu (8,463m) in Sankhuwasabha district. Geographical Area of Nepal: 147,181 km. The lowest elevation of the country starts from 60m above the sea level and the highest elevation is Mt. Everest, the 8,848m highest pick in the world. The snowcapped mountains and hills occupy about 80% of Nepal’s land.
Administrative Structure of Nepal: There are 753 local (Rural Municipalities, Municipalities, Sub-metropolitan Cities, and Metropolitan Cities) governments, seven provincial governments, and a federal government in Nepal.

Rivers: The beautiful rivers in Nepal make the journey from the mountains to the Indian Ocean through hilly areas, inner Terai, and Terai. The main rivers in Nepal are the Karnali River, the longest river of Nepal, the Gandaki River, the deepest river of Nepal, and the Koshi River, the
biggest river of Nepal.

Religions: Hindu is the dominant group. The majority of the population belongs to the four-fold Hindu caste such as Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishya, and Sudras in a hierarchical form. Buddhists, Muslims, Kirat, and Christians are the second, third, fourth, and fifth major religious groups
respectively.
Languages of Nepal: Nepali is the national language. Over 100 local languages are spoken in the country. According to the Constitution of Nepal, all mother tongue languages are official.
